~ equinox ~

It is happening all around us.
Look up, out, you will see it – a subtle shift in the light, the unfurling of a leaf, blossoms budding,
a new crispness or chill in the air.
A sense of things beginning or ending.
The undeniable truth of change.

Depending on where you are right now, the cycles of life are either speeding up or slowing down.
Have you noticed?
Can you see it?
Or perhaps, more importantly, can you feel it?
Have you checked in with your own inner cycles, seasons and shifts?
Have you heard the gentle whisper of your heart, your breath, your womb?
Pause. Listen. Lean in.
What would they love to tell you?
What do you need to hear?
We are right on the cusp.

Standing with one foot in each world, we straddle this sacred time when momentarily balanced, both day and night are shared equally across the world.
This balance offers us a poignant place to pause.
It invites us to reach in to our recent lives and reflect upon where we have been, where we are now and where we are going.
It provides us with the time and space to honour our hearts, our homes, our hurts and all the healing that occurs when we stop and bring awareness to our lives.

Given our days are filled with breathless rushing, busyness and distraction, this time offers us a chance to breathe.
To breathe out slowly.
And to bask in the beautiful sensation of equilibrium, rest, calm and poise.

Each person is different.
And as such we can create our own way to mark this special day.
Some like to create a small ritual, others prefer to raise a toast.
I will probably write a poem.
I will dance and move the complexities of my beginnings and endings through my body.
I will throw away something I no longer need or love.
I will also say a prayer of thanks for all that I do have in my life.

Equinox offers us the opportunity to embrace change.
To accept its inevitability.
To face it, unafraid.

Look long and lovingly into your own precious heart.
Listen deeply to what it has to say.
Be brave and relentless as you release that which no longer serves you.
Be courageous – invite in and accept the new, be it initially uncomfortable, unstable or Unknown.

There is magic in the moments of letting in and letting go.
Breathe into them.
Allow the blessings that they bring.
