Before You Rush Ahead

There’s a certain kind of beginning that doesn’t come with fireworks.

No bold resolutions. No surge of momentum. Just a quiet sense that something old has ended… and something new is not quite ready to begin.

This place of ‘no longer and not yet’ is known as the liminal space. It’s powerful. It’s often filled with exhaustion and uncertainty. And it’s sacred.

For many women I work with (especially those who’ve done a lot of inner work)  January doesn’t feel like a time to start charging ahead. It feels like a time to integrate the lessons learnt.

For me, integration is the unseen season.

The work that happens after the insight and before the action.

It’s where the mind starts to understand what the heart has already felt ,where clarity slowly crystallises in the body and where we start to live the truth we’ve had glimpses of in our dreams.

And yet, we often bypass it.

We think, “I’ve already learned that. What’s next?”

How many times have you been in a workshop or group and you’ve barely finished one activity before the facilitator rushes onto the next? They have an agenda to fulfil, but you haven’t integrated your learning.

Integration is important, as it stops you skimming across the surface and allows your learning to take root.

It’s where change becomes embodied, not just inspiring.

So if this beginning feels quieter than expected…

If your energy is slower, your focus is still soft…

It doesn’t mean you’re off-track.

It might just mean you’re integrating.

Lean into this powerful place.

Avoid the seduction of the next shiny thing.

Honour your own timing.

If you need a little space to feel that… I’ve created two gentle, free resources:

Turning of the Seasons — a guided journaling practice to help you reflect and refocus on the year ahead. Get your guide here.
